How cute are these two kids? They (not the YAK) inspire me daily to be the best mom I can possibly be, and they are my motivation to somehow leave the world a little better than it was when I got here. Some days I’m not so good at it, but we laugh about it a lot. This picture was taken years ago; these boys are 25 and 22 now. The kid on the left is the funniest kid I know, and he really belongs on stage. We can’t sit near each other in church. I smile just thinking his name. The kid on the right is the sweetest kid I know. I can always count on him for a hug and a call just to check in. He’s the middle child, and my husband and I are convinced he will be the one taking care of us when we are old. We are extra nice to him.

This is the baby. She’s 21 now. You can see why, after the boys with the YAK, the girl gets a big pink bow in her hair. She was, and still is, my very real baby doll to dress. It was all so much fun until she discovered the “bumps” in her hair if the ponytail wasn’t just right. Then I was over it. She has a special place in our family; she reminds me daily that our plans for ourselves pale in comparison to God’s plan for us.

And this is my husband, Archie, and our dog, Lilly. She is a little neurotic. He is not. He is really funny and will not be happy that I posted a picture of him here. But he, and our kids, and our dog, are my home. They are why I work, why I live, and why I write.
